The Tamahere-Tauwhare bus service, a three-year trial initiated in February 2024 by Waikato Regional Council (WRC) and funded by Waikato District Council, has completed its first year with encouraging patronage growth. Designed to enhance connectivity between the southern outskirts of Hamilton and the city, the service comprises two routes:
Route 28: University – Tamahere/Matangi – University
Route 27: University – Tauwhare Pā – University
Both routes utilize 12-seater sprinter buses equipped with modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, USB charging points, and exterior bike racks.
