Community Asked to Help Shape The 2025-2034 Long Term Plan (LTP)

Early engagement with the community has commenced to help shape the 2025-2034 Long Term Plan (LTP).

The WDC is inviting residents and ratepayers to share their thoughts by completing a survey, available online on our website , or hard copy at our libraries and Council offices. Alternatively, a printed copy can be requested by calling the contact centre at 0800 492 452. Please ensure feedback reaches us by 20 October 2024.

This feedback will help us determine where to focus our rates and investments over the next nine years. The survey covers important areas such as:

  • Roading

  • Waste services

  • Community halls in Eureka, Huntly, and Ruawaro

  • District libraries

  • Council-owned properties

  • The traffic lights trial at Wainui Bridge in Raglan

We’re also asking some general questions about Council’s services and what’s most important. Our key message is: Our priority is to keep the district running smoothly while keeping costs down. This means we need to carefully prioritise projects, services, and activities – we simply can’t do everything. That’s why it’s vital for our community to have their say about what’s important.”

Toolkit you to use

To support you during this early engagement period, the WDC has developed a toolkit to help encourage participation in the survey. The toolkit includes:

  • Key messages to share about the engagement

  • A short article for distribution through your local communication channels

  • Links to more information

  • A copy of our media release sent today to media that you can pull content from

Please share WDC’s social media posts about the upcoming LTP to help raise public awareness and drive participation. It’s important we gather diverse feedback from our communities, and you are a great link to the people we want to hear from. Additionally, one of our communications team who supports your rohe will be in touch to provide localised communication approaches for this engagement process.
