Message from COO Tony Whitaker :
"Next week is the start of our roadshow of events sharing the content of the Annual Plan Consultation Document and the challenging position we find ourselves in balancing the books.
The roadshow consists of 19 drop-in events in halls/community venues. These drop-in events will enable locals to ask questions of elected members and staff and/or to have conversations about what they would like the Council to do more/less of in future. We would appreciate you sharing the relevant drop in session details with your contacts - details are in the attached "Explainer".
Attached is a backgrounder and presentation (download files below) that provides an overview and some detail about our current situation and what we are proposing for 2024/25. In particular it provides some background about the challenges we are facing and how this impacts on rates and our next year's activities.
Also attached is some work LGNZ (Local Government New Zealand) has done which also has some really interesting information that puts our Council/district into context with the rest of New Zealand.
Council's Consultation Document and related information can also be found by visiting waikatodc.govt.nz/say-it.
We look forward to seeing you in the next few weeks as we travel the district to share our proposed plans for next year" - Tony Whitaker COO - Waikato District Council.
NOTE: Tamahere residents and ratepayers are invited to pose questions directly to Tony Whitaker 6.30 sharp - Tamahere Community Centre - Tuesday 2nd of April. This is followed by the TCC's monthly meeting and you are invited to remain and be part of that.
